Gauthier, Alvarado
& Associates was awarded this project as a result of
a design competition. The program calls for two new separate
facilities, educational and administrative, both of which
utilize sustainable design principles, while facilitating
the Foundation's multi-faceted mission as stewards, researchers,
educators and guardians of the parkland. The program called
for a +/- 2,500 SF classroom/exhibit building for use by
visiting school groups and a +/- 5,000 SF administration
building for
use by program and support staff. The classroom building
incorporates a large multi- purpose room with breakout facilities;
exhibit
space, kitchen, storage and a mud room. The administrative
portion of the project houses open landscape offices, private
offices for officers, joint use areas, conference rooms,
a resource library and reading room, and staff support areas.
